North Carolina has become a haven for puppy mills. Last year, more puppy mills were busted for animal cruelty in North Carolina than any other state in the U.S. There is currently no law that regulates puppy mills our state.
NC House Bill 159 will mandate basic standards of humane care in commercial breeding operations, and require such operations be open to routine inspections by qualified humane inspectors.
The Bill has passed the House of Representatives. Now it must pass the NC Senate. The senate killed a similar bill last year. Please use the form below to urge your state senator to support this important bill.
