Did you know that there are only 8 states left in the US that still use gas chambers to euthanize companion animals in animal shelters? Missouri is one of them.
National animal welfare groups and the American Veterinary Medical Association agree that the gas chamber does not have a place in animal shelters. Do you know if your community animal shelter still uses the gas chamber to euthanize animals? Training is available for shelter staff that want to make the transition to euthanasia by injection. The HSUS also has grants available for shelters that eliminate the gas chamber so that they can implement new lifesaving programs or provide much needed shelter improvements.
Have you had a chance to talk with officials in your community about switching to euthanasia by injection?
