What can you do to help get rid of Puppy Mills in Missouri.
2.) Call your local shelter or rescue next time you are looking for a new pet for your family. 25% of the dogs in shelters are purebred and another 20% are puppies. If you like a certain breed then google that breed followed by the word rescue and the state you live in.
3.) If you choose to buy from a breeder NEVER MEET THEM SOMEWHERE OTHER than their breeding facility. They will tell you they have an appointment in between where both of you live or they want to save you driving all the way to their place. They only do this so you don't see how terrible they treat the parents dogs. DEMAND TO SEE WHERE THE PARENT DOGS LIVE AND HOW THEY ARE TREATED. Don't let them sell you puppies by only showing you the puppies and not the parents. Ask them how many breeding dogs ( I PERSONALLY WOULD NOT BUY FROM ANY BREEDER THAT HAS MORE THAN 10 BREEDING DOGS) they have and if they sell to a broker or pet store (NO GOOD BREEDER WILL SELL TO A PET STORE OR USE A BROKER). There are many PUPPY MILLS IN MISSOURI with over 200 breeding dogs and some as many as a thousand breeding dogs.
4.) Email the Department of Agriculture and ask them to send you all the inspection reports on the breeder you are interested in. They will do this through the Missouri Sunshine Act and it may cost you $15.00 but it will show you all the violations the breeder may have against them.
Don't be a part of the problem but lets all help end MISSOURI BEING THE #1 WORST PUPPY MILL STATE IN THE NATION !!!
