Please know 3 things before you read this email:
1. I have never sent out a mass email asking for donations for the shelter at which I volunteer. If this email offends you, I apologize in advance, but this time we can't do it alone.
2. If you are able, please share this email with your family, friends, and fellow dog lovers.
3. Even $5 can help :)
Thank you so much,

This is Sophie.
Sophie is a 7-month old Standard Poodle puppy. She was rescued along with her 6 brothers and sisters and their daddy from a 16-year-old Romanian girl in Pamona Missouri who was breeding them as a "hobby". They were all kept outside, and in horrid condition (filthy, overgrown, matted, covered with fleas, weepy infected eyes, runny diarrhea.....you get the picture). We have found wonderful homes for the daddy and 5 of the puppies, but Sophie and her sister Judy both have very serious medical issues. Although now safe in our rescue, Sophie and Judy were both diagnosed with ectopic ureters. Judy underwent her surgery about a month ago, and is doing very well, and her prognosis is good. Sophie underwent her surgery just yesterday (at the University of Missouri Columbia Vet School). If her recovery goes well, she can come back to our rescue on Monday.
Unfortunately, little Sophie still has additional surgery ahead of her, as she has also been diagnosed with an Atrial Septal Heart Defect. She is in need of a surgery that will save her life. She has to go back to the University on 01/21/14 for an angiogram and balloon catheter sizing of the ASD (Atrial Septal Defect) device, then back for her final surgery on 01/29/14 for placement of the device.
Without this surgery, the cardiology vets have told us that Sophie has less than 2 years to live.
The surgeries for both ectopic ureters were almost $8000.00, and we are now looking at an additional$5000.00 for Sophie's heart surgery. When they heard Sophie's story, Infiniti Medical (the supplier of the ASD heart device) generously volunteered to supply the device to us at cost, but even with that, we need your help. We ARE going to find a way to save Sophie's life, and if you could help us, we would really appreciate it. A donation of ANY size will be so greatly appreciated!!!
We are a 501c3 nonprofit, so your donations are tax deductible. You will receive confirmation for your donation.
