Thanks to your hard work, Missouri is doing a better job protecting dogs and cracking down on commercial dog breeders who are not in compliance with the law.

Current numbers: 925 commercial breeders & 2,227 ACFA licensees (as of 1/29/13)
Inspections
In 2012, ACFA staff completed more than 3,460 inspections, an all-time high.
· 2010 – 2,615 inspections
· 2011 – 2,851 inspections
· 2012 – 3,460 inspections
· 2013 – 250 inspections (as of 1/29/2013)
Decline in Commercial Breeders
Today, Missouri has 877 fewer commercial breeders than in January 2009.
· 164 fewer in 2009
· 224 fewer in 2010
· 292 fewer in 2011
· 179 fewer in 2012
· 18 fewer in 2013 (as of January 29, 2013)
Operation Bark Alert
In 2009, under Governor Nixon and Director Hagler, the Missouri Department of Agriculture launched a new program called Operation Bark Alert – a crackdown on unlicensed breeders in Missouri.
