What To Do When Your Dog Gets Bit Or Stung By SOmething !!!

Big Tom and Mom took Jackie and I on a walk on the Katy Trail but Jackie didn't fare so well. Never once on the walk did we see anything bite her or sting her or did she even yelp but about 30 minutes after we got home she started swelling up like a poisoned dog. It just keep keeping bigger and bigger.

My parents being the compassionate type immediately stuck their fingers in her mouth to see what she was eating. Obviously the rocket scientists didn't find a thing as her jaw was just swelling up. We are now assuming a wasp bite or snake bite but it is amazing as she never yelped or cried out on the walk. This kind of stuff seems to always happen to the once hairless wonder "OUR JACKIE GIRL".
So after mom and dad got done laughing at the poor thing, she contacted through a text a ton of her "rescue" friends and vet friends and asked what she should do since our vet office wasn't open still. They all suggested benedryl and it immediately got rid of the swelling and this morning she looks great. FYI they all seemed to think that you give the dog 1 mg per pound they weigh. My cousin ( another Boston) just had a bad rash due to allergies and we told them to give the dog benedryl and it worked like a charm on her too. Benedryl is the current drug of choice around here.  One rescue friend said she uses it on her horses, goats , dogs and any animal on her farm whenever they get stung or bit by something. You learn something new everyday. Another day in the life of our little JACKIE GIRL !!!!!
The good news is we got to walk just under 4 miles and we saw tons of animals and deer !!!
