Stray Rescue Rocks

Normm's Triumphant Return

Hope is essential at Stray Rescue, and few things fill me with hope more than seeing a dog come back from the brink of death, make a miraculous recovery, and live the happy, healthy life he or she deserves. That is why I am overjoyed to report that Normm, who suffered some of the worst abuse I have ever seen, is safe and sound, back home with his Stray Rescue family.
I rescued Normm about a month ago, and I'll never forget the defeated look in his eyes. A victim of dogfighting, Normm had a gaping hole in his leg, multiple severe bite wounds, and was totally dehydrated and left for dead in the record breaking summer heat wave. His rescue was as much of an emergency as you will ever see; every second was critical. He was a shell of dog knocking on death's door. Click here to read Normm's harrowing rescue story.
Now, after weeks of tears, uncertainty, and defying all odds, Normm has made an unbelievable recovery. I picked him up from Veterinary Specialty Services, and the staff said goodbye to this brave boy. I put him in the Jeep, overcome by the now vibrant look in his eyes and the hop in his step, regardless of having a leg amputated.
There is so much abuse out there, it's easy for us all to get overwhelmed. But we need to always remember stories like Normm's; stories of strength, perseverance, and, of course, hope. The entire Stray Rescue family - staff, volunteers, fosters, donors, everyone - plays such a key role in ensuring amazing dogs like Normm become a loving member of some special family rather than an animal abuse statistic. It's that patience, dedication, and compassion that defines all of us and keeps hope alive for those still on the streets.
Welcome to your new life Normm. You're going to love it, and your story will encourage countless people to be caring, responsible, and respectful towards other companion animals.
Thank you all for your amazing support of Normm and all companion animals. I could never do it without you. My heart is lighter today.
Love and Woof! Randy Grim
