BARTOW | A Lakeland veterinarian and his wife, the owner of a Petland store, have been charged with 51 counts each of altering animal health documents, Brian Haas, the chief assistant state attorney, said.
Christopher and Wendy Carrier were charged with third-degree felonies on June 24 by the State Attorney's Office after an investigation, Haas said. More charges could be pending for Christopher Carrier.
Wendy Carrier, the owner of Petland in Lakeland, provided 51 forged veterinary certificates, according to the arrest affidavit. She admitted to altering the forms and passing them to be issued by her husband, according to a report.
Christopher Carrier, a veterinarian with Care Animal Clinic in Lakeland, provided 53 forged certificates, according to the affidavit. He said he knew his wife created and forged the certificates, and he was responsible for issuing the false forms to those who bought animals at Petland, which was closed shortly after their arrests on June 3
