Inmates Need Homes Quick

The lastest update is that Charger has now found rescue and will be safe, however there are still 3 other dogs that are released today and still do not have a rescue commitment :( Please take a look below at Gwen, Odie and Scrappy....they will all be PTS at the end of the day if rescue does not come before then. I know that times are really tough right now for everyone, but please let me know ASAP if you can help ANY of them....rescue is their only chance and they only have hours left to find it!!! Please also read the update below on Ginger....additional services have been offered to any rescue that can help her. She is in temporary boarding and is quickly running out of time. I also wanted to let all of you know that sadly, there is no new information on Patty the missing dog :(

All of these dogs are located at a high-kill animal control facility in NW IN. This facility does not do public adoptions, so their only hope is to be saved by a rescue. If these dogs are not rescued in time, they will be PTS! Please take a look at the attached pictures and if you can help any of them, please contact me at http://ssomail.charter.net/do/mail/message/mailto?to=dawn6639%40verizon.net as soon as possible. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE SHELTER!
Even if you can't help....please cross-post to other rescues that you think may be able help. If cross-posting, please include ENTIRE post so that people do not contact the shelter. We have very limited transport resources, but will do our best to help get them to the Chicagoland area.

GWEN
Gwen is a Black Lab mix...with what, I don't know?? She does have a very unique face :) She is a young female that was found as a stray and appears to be about 6 months old. She is less than knee high and is about 30-35 pounds. This poor little girl is absolutely terrified of being at the shelter. She just stood there trembling while I was petting her and looked like she was thinking "please get me the heck out of here"! She does not seem to mind the other dogs.
RELEASED: FRIDAY 03/20/09

ODIE
Odie is some sort of Terrier/Hound mix. He is a male that was found as a stray and appears to be about 3 years old. He is a litle timid of being at the shelter, but was very sweet and affectionate. He had a pretty calm personality despite all the chaos around him and he has the cutest floppy crooked ears. He is not very big, around knee high and about 30-35 pounds. He does not seem to mind the other dogs.
RELEASED: FRIDAY 03/20/09

SCRAPPY
Scrappy is a German Shepherd mix pup. This little guy is only about 2 months old and was found as a stray. He appears to be feral and will bite. He needs an experienced person that would be able to help socialize this poor little guy so that he is not terrified of people.
RELEASED: FRIDAY 03/20/09

PARKER
Parker appears to be a mix of a few different Terrier type dogs....not sure which ones though? He is just a young little man about 6 months old and he was found as a stray. He is completely white except for the brown polka-dots on his ears....very cute! He is a tiny emaciated little thing and is less than knee high and about 25 pounds. He is EXTREMELY afraid of being at the shelter and shook like a leaf the entire time I visited with him :( This poor little man is desperate for a place to go that can show him he does not have to be afraid! He is so afraid right now, he does not even pay attention to the other dogs.
RELEASED: MONDAY 03/23/09 CALI
Cali is a little wire-haired Terrier mix. She is just a tiny little female and weighs about 15 pounds. She was found as a stray and appears to be about 1-1/2 years old. She does have a docked tail. She is a very sweet and friendly little girl with everyone. She has a fairly calm personality and even sat when asked. She does not seem to mind the other dogs.
RELEASED: WEDNESDAY 03/25/09

GINGER
Ginger is a brindle colored mix of maybe Cattle Dog. She is a young female that was found as a stray and appears to be about 8 months old. She is a medium sized dog that is about knee high and weighs around 45 pounds. This girl was so full of tail wags and could not wait to be let out of her kennel to visit. Once she was out and I started to pet her, she just sat back and relaxed very calmly as if she coulnd't get enough :) She is very sweet and friendly with people, but she is very bossy and dominant of the other dogs. She will need an experienced owner to show her proper manners around the other dogs.
RELEASED: NOW
UPDATE: Ginger was placed in temporary boarding on 3/18 to escape from being needlessly euthanized! She is still in need of resuce ASAP as her boarding is only temporary!! Also, she has already been spayed thank you to a generous donor and is HW negative. ALSO: A FREE 8-week training course has been offered to help Ginger socialize better with other dogs to the rescue that takes her. The training is offered by Andrea Erb-Stuhlmacher who is a an experienced and licensed Dog Trainer/Handler that services the NW Indiana region and specializes in behavior modification.
